Tony Travers, writing in LGC, has warned that “there is a risk localism will somehow get lost in the economic and political turmoil that lies ahead”. He believes that in the months ahead, the Tories must be pushed to explain what “radical decentralisation” would mean in practice. He believes that this is necessary as the Labour Government failed to deliver on its decentralisation commitments.
